Ramoji Rao (1936–2024)
Cherukuri Ramoji Rao was a Telugu media and business pioneer who transformed the Telugu press landscape. He founded Eenadu (1974), the first modern Telugu-language daily newspaper to be distributed across the state with multiple district editions.
Eenadu and Telugu Media
Eenadu ("Today") revolutionised Telugu journalism with reader-friendly design, district-specific editions, and a focus on local news. At its peak, it was one of India's most widely read regional newspapers.
Ramoji Film City
Ramoji Rao built the Ramoji Film City near Hyderabad — the world's largest integrated film studio complex (Guinness World Record). It serves as a production hub for Telugu, Hindi, and other Indian language films.
Other Ventures
He founded ETV (Entertainment Television) network — one of India's largest regional TV channel networks — and Ushasri chit funds.
