Karimnagar Silver Filigree

Karimnagar is the centre of Telangana's silver filigree craft (Karimnagar Silverwork, GI tag granted). The craft involves drawing fine silver wire and weaving it into intricate floral and geometric patterns.

Technique

Silver is melted and drawn into progressively thinner wire. Artisans (predominantly from the Kamsali community) then twist and weave the wire into frames without soldering, relying entirely on interlocking structure.

Products

Traditional products include jewellery, decorative boxes, flower baskets, peacock figures, and ceremonial items. Contemporary artisans have adapted the form to home décor.
