Gond Art

The Gond are one of India's largest tribal communities, with significant populations in Adilabad and Mancherial districts of Telangana (Gondi-speaking areas). Gond art is characterised by intricate patterns derived from nature — animals, birds, and plants rendered in fine dots and lines.

Pradhan Gond Paintings

Pradhan Gond paintings — by the Pardhan sub-group, hereditary musicians and oral historians of the Gond — have attracted national attention since the 1980s when artist Jangarh Singh Shyam was discovered by Jagdish Swaminathan.
